Moving Mountains Art Exhibition

Moving Mountains Art Exhibition in St John’s Church, Keswick

The idea of an Art Exhibition is to invite people of all ages, from arts groups to schools to exhibit works in art in St John’s Church from Fri 9th March to Sunday 11th March.
The themes of the exhibition are very wide:
– Jesus and his passion
– Mothering Sunday
– The Wonder of Creation

‘Art’ may be painting or modelling, using any medium, on any of these themes.

Works of Art will be installed in Church from Thursday March 8th.

A ‘preview’ will be held on Friday March 9th from 3.45 pm. Refreshments will be served.

A short talk / reflection on faith and art relating to the pictures on display will take place during the
evening.

The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday March 10 th and Sunday March 11th. Stewards will be on duty when the church is open. Pictures for sale must be clearly marked and that is the responsibility of the artist. Pictures should not be framed, but mounted on card.

On Sunday March 11th at 10 am, a special Mothering Sunday Service will be held involving children from St Herbert’s School.

Context:
March 9th – 11th 2018: The Diocese of Carlisle, in partnership with the Methodist Church, the Salvation Army and United Reformed Church in Cumbria are organising a weekend of mission
events to promote the Christian faith.

The Archbishop of York and other bishops and church leaders from the North of England are joining us to work alongside in this event. The aim is to present an understanding of the Christian faith that is alive, but ‘not in your face’; that is Christian but in an inclusive manner; that is challenging and engaging.

The Churches of Keswick and area are working on lots of ideas.
